SCHOOL MUSICAL – OLIVER!
It’s time to book your seats for this year’s Jamison High School presentation of the well-loved musical classic - Oliver!
This year, more than ever, the successful preparation for this musical has been reliant upon the cooperative efforts of an enormous number of students and all the CAPA staff.
Jenny Barber and Rod Grossel have coordinated the front-of-house planning that will ensure each evening performance is enhanced appropriately.
Sue Mudge has gathered together the committed and talented members of our schools’ music ensemble to work diligently on the musical scores. John Leadbitter has spent many hours arranging to suit our students and the demands of the musical itself.
Sue Yealland has met regularly with chorus members on cold, dark, frosty and rainy Wednesday mornings to ensure songs are committed to memory and sung with gusto.
Under the leadership of Rod Edwards and Helen Dennis, a dedicated team of students have worked tirelessly constructing sets, designing and building props and painting flats to ensure the work of the cast will be stunningly supported visually.
Once again Rob Colley has grouped his professional lighting and sound crew together to ensure the work performed is seen and heard with the minimum of glitches.
Karen Burke has worked with the musical’s leads, whenever there are moments free in recesses, lunchtimes and after school, to help them master their songs, while simultaneously juggling the administrative demands of the production. This has included liaising with York Public so that, for the first time, our production will incorporate primary school performers.
Emma Lamont has finessed the performance with choreography for many of the popular numbers that fill the stage and spill over into the auditorium, while ably overlaying the action with work from her dance ensemble.
In another first with this production, our renowned ex-student Belinda Wollaston has taken time out from her successful career in musical theatre to graciously pass on some of her knowledge and expertise to our aspiring performers.
As always, it is the talent and commitment of the cast and crew which is the essential ingredient that will ensure the audience will come away from this show thoroughly delighted.
We look forward to seeing you at one of the performances!
